Add-on developers as target for scams

As an add-on developer, have you ever been the target of a scam?  Today I received an email from someone stating that my add-on automatically charged their credit card account.  The add-on they referenced is free, and doesn't collect user information or credit card information.  I just checked my PayPal account, and no one has been charged.  My payment systems don't ever automatically charge anyone.  I don't use subscription services.  So, this person is either a scam artist or an idiot.
