As many of you know, we've been maintaining a free list of Apps Script consultants offering services for a few years now. To get yourself on it, take a copy of the preso, add yourself (to keep it all in the same format), then send me your page. (The order of slides is automatically randomized each night)

I was wondering if this community thinks this is a valuable register.
- There's only 22 people currently on it. What's stopping you adding yourself if you do offer these kind of services?
- Is anybody getting any referreals/business as a result of being on this list?
- should we develop it further and turn it into a proper app (or something else) and publicize it more widely  ?
- if so, how would it be moderated so for quality, should/could it be monetized  and how ?
- Which channels should we promote it on, and would you be willing to share it around ?

Looking for input on whether this is a valuable resource that could be further leveraged.

Hey Bruce,

I've seen this list before but had never added myself before, but just did now.

So I can't speak to the current visibility of the list or if people are getting referrals or business from it, but I would guess it probably doesn't get a lot of visibility at the moment. And honestly, most people aren't going to be searching for "apps script expert," they're going to be searching for what they need help with--aka the service they're using, so Google Sheets, Slides, Docs, Gmail, etc.

And then, it probably would be best to moderate for quality, so it doesn't become bloated with sub-par freelancers.

Something that has been on my radar since I first entered the space is a single cohesive place to 1) learn (free resources), 2) get trained (some free webinars, paid resources, and recorded and live training), 3) get help (free community and paid consulting), and 4) hire experts. There are places to do all of the above, but it's very fragmented, and a lot of info and resources are outdated.

Hi. I'm a new member of this Community. I believe promoting this community and our services here is a great effort. I just got laid off and re-entering consulting by trying to use such services as Upwork, Feverr, Freelancer has been a devastating experience. Those platforms turned into hell for both developers and clients (another post with more details maybe). Finding this Group was a blessing!

Bruce, I appreciate your efforts with the registration doc and your resource at https://ramblings.mcpher.com. I just created my slide and shared with you so you can help and add me to the doc. Finding the doc wasn't easy, however. I had to search the thread. Making the doc more central/prominent in this Group would help. SEO would help as well. Also, maybe, creating our own sub-reddit community would open a new channel to drive more traffic here. I've been an active member on r/GoogleAppsScript and it was helpful to get some small projects and discuss GAS issues. We need more ideas, however.

Hi Bruce

Without it becoming too much technical work, it might work better if it existed as a webpage somehow - so that it could be indexed by search engines, rather than contained within a file ... ? It might be that people still update the Slides to add themselves and then the information is copied to a webpage (otherwise you have to figure out how to give people access to the webpage directly).

I don't believe I've had any referrals/business from it though :)

Kind regards
Phil

Hi Phil

not a big deal to do, but I'd only put the effort in if i thought it was useful - and then there's the moderation. We'd need a couple of volunteers to ensure it was quality, relevant and non spammy stuff there.I was also wondering if there should be a rating/comments section - but again that'd need some more moderation.

I think I may have got one job through it. Just being active on this forum is probably as good as anything. This last last year I've been getting most of my work through UpWork rather than here or through my website.
