Hi! I am a beginning coder, so bear with me here.

I wrote a script which I have shared with others. It's pretty simple, just turns form submissions into a PDF and saves it onto their drive. When someone else tries to run it (you're probably expecting this), they get this:

Google hasn’t verified this app

The app is requesting access to sensitive info in your Google Account. Until the developer ([user email address]) verifies this app with Google, you shouldn't use it.

I was not aware this is considered an app, nor do I know what to do to verify it, or if that's even something I can do. What do I need to do so that people (with even less tech knowledge than me) don't get this scary warning message?

Thanks,

Raffi

Read this thread. It is a group of our fellow developers discussing passing the verification process for new apps:  CASA Assessment
I think you can ask them questions in case you need further guidance.

Thank you, but I'm afraid I don't understand anything that's being said there. I would be happy to learn about this stuff but I don't know where to go to do that. (Google support documentation isn't enough, and "YouTube" is probably true but I don't even know what I'm searching for. I'd need a pretty extensive course about apps script programming to get me to the level of that thread.)

Do I indeed have to go through this app verification process just for people to take the code and insert into the script editor themselves?

I think verification in this context means getting it listed as an add-on or extension. Just to be clear, you know people can click on the advanced options to get past the scary message, right?

Yes, but for people who are not tech-comfortable, it's quite off-putting.
I wish I had the know-how to make an add-on or extension. Hopefully I'll get around to doing a course or something. This is just a hobby.
Thanks!
