Updating an embedded sheet in a doc

I have embedded a Google Sheet into a Google doc using copy & paste.

Unfortunately this doesn't update automatically, but needs an update button to be clicked on in the doc.

Is there some way I can do this with scripts? I would like to do this from a script in another spreadsheet.

Unfortunately that functionality currently isn't available in Apps Script for an API.

This is just speculation. I haven't tested it out. But a google sheet is just an HTML table. So you can create a google add on that accesses a specific spreadsheet gets the cells and recreate the table in doc. You can find the appendTable method here.
