Insert today's Date in Doc with script...Is it possible ?

Hi I'm new to google script

I'm wondering if it is possible to insert today's Date element in Google Doc via script.

I've google the problem and  the best solution I fond is to insert a Text represents today's date, but this solution has a drawback: what it is inserted is not Date type element...but Text, so it will loss some desirable properties Date has.

I've looked through the Docs and I can't figure out a way to "set" a date.  There doesn't seem to be an ability to modify a date object. The Advanced Doc API Service doesn't even have "Date" listed.
