Hi Guys,

I'm excited to see the new Group Settings API launched but I have to say I find the request access via form a little difficult to work with, especially for open source projects like GAM. Is API access by request only because it's still in labs or are there performance / scalability concerns with this particular API? Should we expect this process to continue for future Google Apps APIs?

Thanks guys,

Jay

Hi Jay,

In order to best evaluate the potential of this new API, we really want to understand how and why people are using it.  Therefore, as we roll it out, initially we are asking all interested parties to sign up and tell us a little about their use case. We've taken a similar approach with other APIs, such as the new JSON API for Blogger and BigQuery, and are likely to do so in the future, though this is by no means a shift for all Google Apps APIs.
Thanks

Claudio

Thanks Claudio,

I've gone ahead and released a new version of my project with support for Group Settings API. Since each user will need to individually request access, I wrote up instructions for the process at:

if you have any concerns or recommended changes for this process, please let me know.

Thanks again for the response and all your API work!
