Retrieve user´s group in Aplication

Hello everybody.

I have a problem with my Google Apps Business Domain. The problem is the following:


I need in my application to know the groups that authenticated user belongs. I use Oauth 2.0 mechanism.

The problem is that I can't use the provisioning api by security problems.

Is there any way to retrieve the groups without using Provisioning API?

Hi Alejandro,

The Provisioning API is the only way to programmatically get that information.

What exactly are the security problems with the Provisioning API? Perhaps we can help you with that.

The problem is that I don't want use the superadministrator of Google Apps domain for obtain the groups for a user.

I don´t know If I can use a user with less privileges for obtain the groups of a user.

Hi Alejandro,

The Provisioning API can only be used by the domain administrators, but you can use the OAuth scopes to restrict what your application can do.

Note:

We don´t want update/delete or any other operation over group. We only need the groups for a logged user over domain.
