I'm trying to resolve an issue with the dreaded "Orphaned Classroom" where the original owner has been deleted so the classroom is now effectively "locked" so can't add anyone to it.

Is it possible to create a new user with the same userid number as the original owner so that this person becomes the new owner & then we can transfer the ownership to someone else or a centrally managed user.

Many Thanks
Brian

No. Google always generates the ID.

You can use the Classroom Control extension to change the owner or add a co-teacher to a Google Classroom, which should give you more flexibility. The extension can be a bit hit or miss, but it usually works well.

🔗 Classroom Control Extension

To use it:

  1. Open a new Google Sheet.

  2. Click the Extensions tab, hover over Classroom Control, and select Initialize.

  3. Once it finishes "Working" (you’ll see this at the bottom of the screen), hover over Classroom Control again.

  4. You’ll see options to list all classrooms or orphaned classrooms.

Depending on the number of classes, it might take a little while to load. After that, you’ll be able to assign a primary teacher directly from the sheet.

Let me know if you have any questions—I hope this helps!

I've tried the "Classroom Control" extension but unfortunately it doesn't seem to be working.

I'll give it another try later in the day
