Hello!

We've been using Google Groups for Business on our Apps for Education domain as our mailing groups, but recently discovered that forum topics (i.e. emails sent to any group) can be searched and viewed by anyone in the domain. I turned off Google Groups for Business, but that broke our nested mailing groups - some users were not receiving mails sent to a parent group...

I called Google help, which provided me this solution: in each group's Access Permissions settings, remove All Organization Members from View Topics.

Any idea if GAM provides a command to toggle this setting?

Any insight is greatly appreciated!

Jon

I think that the command you want is:

gam update group foo who_can_view_group all_members_can_view

You are specifying a smaller group of accounts allowed to view topics -  all (group) members instead of all organization member.

Before you throw this command at all of your groups, test it on one group and verify that it is doing what you want in the groups.google.com basic permission settings page.

If you want to resist your users to view view any post, use following command:

gam update group <email address of the group> who_can_view_group none_members_can_view

Lemme know if it works
