Thanks for the reply.

Regrettably, Google does not have a preferred name field and the display name does not carry across all of the apps.

Ironically, Google, which prides itself on its use of data, has poor data governance regarding first and preferred names.  Gemini suggested mapping preferred to first name in Google. This approach is fraught with all sorts of integration issues via One Roster and LTI.
