Option1

Without deleting the mail id

gam user ResignedMailid forward on Newid delete

Syntax:

gam user <username>|group <groupname>|all users forward on|off [email address] [keep|archive|delete] [noconfirm]

Option 2

After deleting the id Tag the Resigned id as nick name to Newid

Option3

Renaming the Resigned employee id as Newid. By this option you will get all the DATA without losing any data.

gam update user <email address> [firstname <First Name>] [lastname <Last Name>] [password <Password>] [username <New Email>] [admin on|off] [suspended on|off] [ipwhitelisted on|off] [sha] [md5] [nohash] [changepassword on|off] [agreedtoterms on|off] [org <Org Name>] [customerid <Customer ID>]

Subject: [GAM] When employees leave the company?

I have two users that left the company and the employees manager wants all of their old emails and future emails to go to him or another employee.

Can I do that using GAM?

If so, do you know the syntax?

Thanks,

RJR

In addition to renaming options you can also use delegation (useful if manager or more than one user needs access to this mailbox):

Syntax

gam user <username>|group <groupname>|ou <ouname>|all users delegate to <delegate email>

Thanks for the information. I think I slightly understand, but I'm still a little confused on the syntax.

I want to move only the email items to the managers email and then delete the old employees Google Apps account so I can free up the user limit. Then create a nickname for the manager to receive future emails that are sent to the old employees email address?

If I use the following syntax will it do what I am looking for?

# gam update user oldemployee username existingmanager

# gam create alias oldemployee user existingmanager

Also, Does all the oldemployee's emails end up in the existingmanager's inbox or in a Label in the manager's account?

You can use my other open source product, GYB to move email between user mailboxes:

You can use any IMAP client or Google Apps Migration for Microsoft Exchange (GAMME) to move e-mails between accounts.
