Hi, I am trying to transfer Google drive from one workspace to another workspace with no loss of access docs to the shared people.
For example,  I want to transfer example.org users' google drive to example.net users but I want to retain the sharing access with whom the user shared the docs.

Please suggest which command will work for this?
I am confused, I have read so many blogs on it.

It’s not possible to directly change the ownership from one Google Workspace instance to another. I’ve honestly never quite understood why Google Blocks that. The only way I know of to do it is to:

On the destination domain (example.net)
- create one or more Shared Drives

- add the relevant accounts from the source domain (example.org) to those Shared Drives, or sub folders within those shared drives.

On the source domain (example.org)
- move the files and folders into the Shared Drives from the destination domain (see
https://support.google.com/a/answer/7374057?hl=en and

On the destination domain (example.net)
- move the files and folders from the shared drive to their final location (though I’d suggest seriously considering just keeping them in a shared drive if they are things that will outlive the tenure of any one person at the organization).

- review the permissions for the content that has been moved into/through the Shared Drives, as folder permissions work somewhat differently in Shared Drives than in MyDrive. See the thread at

Hope that helps, at least a little!

Yes, indeed, Ian.
I posted about it here.

All magic done with the destination domain account (kim@domain), as Ian said.

Unfortunately there's no 100% solution for this scenario.
  1. You can do shared drive "real" migration described by Ian. Strongly recommend if you have just a few users.
  2. You can do migration via some tool like CloudM, BitTitan or native Google Workspace migration  which is quite heavy for migration of less than 1000 users. Just to clarify - these tools do just a copy of these files from one destination to another and then apply ACL (ACcess List). Because of that some changes to files happens like you loose all versions of file or you get a new ID of the file so any connections or links you used are lost.
If you want to we can jump on a Meet and discuss option no. 2. We do these migrations for our customers often so we can explain all pains related to such a project. If you'd be interested just let me know where to contact you.
