We want to prevent students from using Google Chat during certain hours of the day (when classes are going on). Chat GPT says, "Use GAMADV-XTD3 (you already use GAM) or Admin SDK to flip Chat settings for an OU at certain times of day.   Example:  8:00 AM → Disable Chat for students  3:30 PM → Enable Chat againThis is the closest to “pause/unpause” you’re asking for."
Do you think GAMADV-XTD3 would be the best way to do this?  Has anyone here attempted this before?

Gina,

ChatGPT is confused; there is no API support for enabling/disabling Chat for an OU.

Context Aware Access (CAA) is the solution here. You can create an access level that defines the times students should have access and then apply that to the Chat service.

I believe you'll need a premium license for the students in order to use CAA.

Maybe you can accomplish this with your Classroom Management or Filtering solution.  For example, Securly Classroom or Securly Filtering.
