Hello,

Thank you! Your tool is a life saver for name changes. I have read
through all the wiki pages I could find which are very useful. I am
still wondering about one thing ... Is GAM capable of merging user
accounts? We have a few instances where duplicate accounts were
created for the same user and we would like to pull everything into
one account. I wasn't sure how it handled username changes to
something that already existed. Thank you!

Hi Joshua,

Sorry, there is no way to do account mergers with GAM. If you try to
rename an account to an existing account (or group, or alias) name,
you'll get an error message and the rename won't take place. See
below for details on manually migrating user data between accounts (it
talks about migrating away from Google Apps but the data is relevant
for migrating between Google Apps accounts)

I would add that imapsync is an excellent tool for what you are trying
to do. ( http://www.linux-france.org/prj/imapsync/ )
I have not used it for Google -> Google, but I do not see why it
wouldn't work. This would handle all mail. You would only need to do
calendars, contacts etc... separately.
There is a lot of great help for imapsync out there if you google
around for it. I mainly used it for migrations to Zimbra but seem to
remember using it successfully to migrate some accounts to Google Apps
a year or so ago. Another great thing about it is that you can script
it much like GAM, so if you have 30 accounts to merge, you can do it
in one easy go.

Cheers,

GD
