Clearing old contacts?

From time to time we have name or email address changes.  As a courtesy we like to remove the old addresses from everyone's contacts so the old addresses don't show up in the 'lookup'.  Before Google changed the way Contacts work, we could issue a command to do this.

gam all users delete contacts query old...@domain.com

This no longer seems to work.  I have tried different delete and clear commands, but the old contact still appears.  I can 'manually' remove the contact, so I know at least in theory it 'should work'.

I have a contact in my own contacts and I can't even see it.  Here's what happens:

>gam user m...@domain.com show contacts emailmatchpattern "em...@domain.com"
User: m...@domain.com, Service not applicable/Does not exist

I know Google made a lot of changes around contacts, so I must just be missing something.

Thanks!

John,

If you get a current version of Advanced GAM, you can now say:
gam all users delete othercontacts query old...@domain.com

Do the following:
gam user m...@domain.com check serviceaccount

Huh.  A whole bunch of scopes were not authorized...  Fixed that and it seems to be working as expected.

Thank you as always!

Thanks for this conversation, I had the exact same issue.
A follow-on question:  Since I was missing a whole bunch of scopes,  is there something I should have done (when updating my Advanced GAM ?) or at some other time to have authorized these needed scopes?
I am afraid I missed a step.

Susan:

After a GAM update, you should run this:

gam user m...@domain.com check serviceaccount

it will tell you if you are missing scopes.
