I've installed GAM many times in the past but I'm struggling today, brand new Linux Mint install and here's what I'm getting:

Please go to:

  https://admin.google.com/ac/owl/list?tab=configuredApps

1. Click on: Configure new app
2. Enter the following Client ID value in Search for app:

  297408095146-fug707qsjv4ikron0hugpevbrjhkmsk7.apps.googleusercontent.com

3. Press Search, select the GAM Project Creation app, click
4. Keep the default scope or select a preferred scope that includes your GAM admin.
5. Press Continue
6. Select Trusted radio button, press Continue and Finish.
7. Press Confirm if Confirm parental consent pops up
8. Press enter here on the terminal once trust is complete.

Go to the following link in a browser on this computer or on another computer:

    https://accounts.google.com/o/oauth2/v2/auth?response_type=code&client_id=297408095146-fug707qsjv4ikron0hugpevbrjhkmsk7.apps.googleusercontent.com&redirect_uri=http%3A%2F%2F127.0.0.1%3A8080%2F&scope=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.googleapis.com%2Fauth%2Fcloud-platform&state=7eR5zDAukgY9MU1Q615dHeGOd6Pqqu&code_challenge=ltZ1JsHTp7Gz2RcM6Wt87G56wQMOVZ0c6qtHl6hF47w&code_challenge_method=S256&access_type=online&open_browser=True&login_hint=icullen%40morrisonsacademy.org

If you use a browser on another computer, you will get a browser error that the site can't be reached AFTER you
click the Allow button, paste "Unable to connect" URL from other computer (only URL data up to &scope required):

Enter verification code or paste "Unable to connect" URL from other computer (only URL data up to &scope required): 127.0.0.1 - - [13/May/2025 12:05:35] "GET /?state=7eR5zDAukgY9MU1Q615dHeGOd6Pqqu&code=4/0AUJR-x4wAiUojMU1fZL0c2dquz3G2f0YWMUs0vtnbamtq34NCXd9c2r7fADeySheIrLHJw&scope=https://www.googleapis.com/auth/cloud-platform HTTP/1.1" 200 91

I've tried on a mobile hotspot, so it's not a network issue here.  I've also copied the .gam folder from my previous install to try and avoid project creation, but I'm still getting this error:

lt2499:~$ gam print groups

I've tried restoring the .gam folder from my old installation, when I run a gam command I get the same error:

icullen@lt2499:~$ gam print groups

ERROR: [Errno 101] Network is unreachable

I've tried on a mobile hotspot, so I'm pretty sure it's nothing to do with our network.

As far as GAM is concerned, it can't talk to the network. It may be firewall / security software on your actual device that's blocking the connection.

I ran into a similar issue with the installer on Ubuntu 24.04.2. Ross had helped me and our fix for it was installing the source code and mapping the source code version of GAM to be the default gam command.

Thanks, but I'm in meetings this afternoon.

I've tried it this morning an a live Linux USB, same issues.  I'm not sure what's changed since I had a working GAM7 installation on my previous OS.

I tried it on a Windows machine this morning too and I have the same issues.

This would appear to be an issue with versions greater than 7.06, I've just downloaded and managed to successfully install 7.05.22 without any issues.  Up and running now, but on an older release.

Interesting, 7.06.00 updated to OpenSSL 3.5.0.

If it helps any, I tried it on my Windows 10 machine, a Fedora fresh install and a Linux Mint fresh install, I even tried on a bootable USB with Linux Mint Debian Edition, all failed with the same error during installation, even on a mobile hotspot.

Can we Meet/Zoom? If so, send me a private  invitation; I'm available until 10:30AM PDT.
