No longer able to update GAM on Mac

I'm running the GAM update command: 

but getting the following error:
ERROR: No version of python installed.

I did verify that I have python3 installed, and have also tried creating an alias (alias python=python3) but that still doesn't fix it.  

Any ideas?

What do you get if you try the command :

which python 

?

additionally, when I just run python3 I get the following error:

xcrun: error: invalid active developer path (/Library/Developer/CommandLineTools), missing xcrun at: /Library/Developer/CommandLineTools/usr/bin/xcrun

Thanks so much for the help.  Apparently I have an issue with my python3 installation, but you've provided the following manual steps for updating GAM, so I'll do this for now.

download latest from github
In terminal:
cd bin
mv ~/Downloads/gam-6.21-macos-universal2.tar.xz .
tar -xvf gam-6.21-macos-universal2.tar.xz

Got it. And what do you get when you try:

which python3

?

(“which” identifies where the program in question lives on your computer. My guess is that your python3 is not in your unix path, which is why it’s not being found/not running.)

I faced the same issue and ended up using the steps mentioned by Jeff.
  • When I ran which python, I got python not found
  • When I ran which python3, I got /usr/bin/python3

I'm on 13.0 (22A380) and I don't use the terminal very often, so my config should be pretty standard. I didn't knowingly install python3 myself.

It was never resolved for me, so here is the workaround I've been doing to update manually:

download latest from github


In terminal:

cd bin

mv ~/Downloads/gam-6.25-macos-universal2.tar.xz .

tar -xvf gam-6.25-macos-universal2.tar.xz


Run “gam info domain” to produce security error

Go into Mac System Preferences > Security & Privacy

Click “Allow anyway” next to gam error


Update complete.

for me downloading and installing the actual python3 from https://www.python.org/downloads/ then meant the good old bash <(curl -s -S -L https://gam-shortn.appspot.com/gam-install) -l worked once again

Thanks, Ross.

GAM started working again a few minutes ago, should've sent a message letting you know.  The School District that shares a limited number of external IPs.  
We're trying to trace any other device that was being identified with the same external IP that could have been sending trash to Google.
