to GAM for G Suite

Hi Jay,

I am newbie and recently deployed GAM on my windows PC. As i have global admin rights on 2 different google tenants therefore I need to configure GAM to switch between the tenants to execute the commands. So far, i read 2 options:
Option 1: create different folders and install gam for each tenants
Option 2: create different Oauth in the same folder than multiple installs

Is their any step by step doc that can illustrate the steps to perform for Option 2 in a scenario where i already have installed GAM and is pointing to 1 tenant.

Thanks in advance

You don't need separate API projects for each G Suite instance, one project is perfectly fine to use for multiple instances. The only reason you'd want multiple projects is if you are concerned one instance will eat up all your quota, for Admin SDK that defaults to 150,000 API calls a day so unless you have some really big instances with lots to do each day this is unlikely.

Take a look at:

and let us know if you have questions after that.

Thanks Jay for looking into this and replying with the speed of light.

I have looked into this document, but would appreciate if you can suggest the steps to get those oauth files from different tenants. Do we have to also get the client_secrets.json and oauth2service.json from other tenants?

client_secrets.json is fine to use across tenants, no concerns there. oauth2service.json is fine to use across tenants also but be aware that you are effectively creating a single service account that can act as and read the data of users across tenants. Make sure that file is secured (use an encrypted partition for starters.

Switching between the tenants is simply a matter of setting the OAUTHFILE variable to the correct domain. How this is done varies by OS, see the link above.

Hi Ross,

Thanks for sharing this document link. Though i am observing an issue while creating gam.cfg file

I am using the following command to create the gam.cfg but getting error:

Command: gam select default verify
Error: select is not a valid argument for "gam"

Please suggest. Or can i copy and paste the contents from the link and save it as gam.cfg? do you know the command to list all the directory locations that gam is using to save those files?

thanks in advance
