Messages - countsonly with date range

to GAM for Google Workspace

Hi, I'm trying to get a message count for a specific user in a time range.

I tried this

gam user <User Email Address> print messages countsonly query 'after:<yyyy-mm-dd> before:<yyyy-mm-dd>'

No luck. Any tips?

What does no luck mean? An error, no expected results?

I just attempted the command:

gam user <ME> print messages countsonly query 'after:2024-01-01 before:2024-01-02'

I received the expected result

Getting all Messages for <ME>
Got 121 Messages for <ME>...
User,messages
<ME>,121
