If you have gam installed on a local system you can take a steep dive shortcut to installing gam on the cloud.  Get a copy of the latest gam Linux .tar.xz, copy that up to your GCP instance and unpack it, as root, and move the contents to a directory that's in the path, e.g. /usr/local/bin.  Next go to an existing local system that has gam installed for a user, make a .tar or .zip archive of that users. ".gam" directory and upload it to your GCP instance and unpack it for the target GCP user(s).  You may need to make some slight changes to the path variables in the gam.cfg file for gam to actually work.  Anyway this is my method, your mileage may vary.
