Class ownership/restoring deleted user conundrum

I am trying to set a teacher as the owner of a classroom but am getting a 'Update Failed: @InactiveCourseOwner The operation on this course cannot be completed. The course owner’s account is not active. Please restore the account of the owner and try the operation again' error.

Then tried ' gam print courses course 1234567890 fields owneremail' and get the error 'Owner ID: 1234567890, Does not exist
id,ownerEmail,ownerId
1234567890,Unknown user,123456789'

So i tried 'gam undelete user id:123456789' and the got 'ERROR: 400: invalidInput - Invalid Input: 0'

So then tried 'gam print users deleted_only id todrive' and cant find the user id anywhere.

I still have 14 days to restore the users i have recently deleted so not sure what is going on here now.

p.s

Reason for the above is a teacher is unable to post private comments on private comments (her words) since i did my last round of user deletion. so I have made some assumptions and figured making her the owner of the classroom may help fix her issue.

Good morning Ross,

Thank you for your reply, I have tried to change ownership again today and it has worked. I can only assume that when i restored the suspected owner of the classrooms account the restore operation simply hadnt completed (even though it was over 24hrs) and was therefore getting the error.
