Group Info by group ID?

Is there a way to get info of a group by it's ID instead of it's name/email? It looks like from Google API a group can be searched by a groupKey which can be group email or id, wondering if this carries over to GAM (using gam advanced)?

Context: we had a junior admin accidentally change a group name from "f...@example.com" to "Word & word word word" (found via our SIEM). We're not sure why/how this stuck but it seems to have otherwise made the group disappear. I'm curious if it's accessible by it's ID.
