Hi:

Im doing some google groups cleanup in our domain. Is there a way with GAM to see when the last time a group was used for email?  Looking to identify the ones that are no longer used.

This topic comes up with some regularity here—I’d suggest doing a search at https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/google-apps-manager for some of the previous threads about it. (The short version is that you can use the email activity log to see if any traffic has gone to that list in the past 6 months.)

One important note, though: Groups can and are used for far more than just email, including things like access to files and folders and shared drives in Drive, meeting invites and access permissions in Calendar, delegated access in Mail, feature enablement in the Admin Console, etc., so just because a Group hasn’t gotten any email in the past 6 months, that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s not being used.

Cheers,

Ian

I second Ian's comment, especially in regards to how groups are used. Batch culling of groups may not be the best choice in the long run.
