We have some forwarding policies in-place, where we add additional lines to forward emails to another account.

I'm write out a command to reach one of the forwarding policies to forward emails to another account, but I'm unable to find the command to perform the task. It this feature available on GAM?

Hey, Wilson. 

This is a two-step dance. 

gam user {username} create forwardingaddress {manager_username}

gam user {username} forward on keep {manager_username}

Thanks for the reply! Will this create the forwarding with the user's account or will it add to an existing policy we have in-place?

Hi Wilson,

I think this may depend on where you have set the policy. The GAM command below sets up the forwarding you would normally have to do from within a user's account (but without the need for the recipient to accept the forwarding).

Where have you set up the other policies?

We created several rules in this section and add to upon request. I’m hoping GAM is able to automatically add it in.

I am following up,

We navigate to the following location within Google Workspace: 

Apps > Google Workspace > Settings for Gmail > Routing > Email forwarding using recipient address map

We have a custom-named routing to add ex-employee emails and their forwarding destination upon request. I’m looking to see if GAM is able to pull up these custom routings and add to them.

There is no API support for this, thus GAM can't help.
