Starting Yesterday the following Command is no longer working. Its not giving us any errors, its just not isnt actually making any change. (I am on GAM 3.62 and have been for several weeks) The command was working fine before.

/usr/bin/python gam.py update user Emailaddress suspended off

Anyone else having similar issues? The update command works fine with changing names, OU, address, password, but not for re-enabling the account

Thank you,
Andrew

Update to this message: It appears none of our super admin accounts have the ability to re-enable suspended accounts through the admin console or the api. When doing it through the admin console I get this message: You are not authorized to perform this operation.
I am putting a ticket in with Google

I can't reproduce this on my end, how are the users being suspended in the first place? What does "gam info user" show for the suspended users? Is it an ADMIN suspension or something else?

odd it looks like 90% of our suspended account say they are suspended for Abuse. Even if we manual suspend there account in the admin console, its saying suspended for abuse, not suspended by admin

Andrew (and others),

We are seeing the same kind of problems on our end, and it's not GAM that's the problem. Google is suspending accounts for the reason of "abuse" but it's not the same as other kinds of suspensions from what we can tell. It's causing problems with our GADS instance, as it cannot restore/unsuspend the accounts either.

We are also putting in a ticket, and have confirmed this with colleagues at other schools too... but no one seems to know what's happening.

Our best guess is that it has to do with the massive password leak from yahoo/google/mail.ru etc this week, and maybe google is taking swift action on accounts that were on that list. It's a guess, but it's our only guess right now.

as an update, a reply from Google on the issue:

Hello Andrew,

Thank you for your last message.

After checking with our specialists, the reason that you have accounts that may not be able to be restored is due to an issue we are currently experiencing. The issue that we are experiencing right now, is that the users you suspended as the Admin, is being marked as suspended for another reason, and cannot be restored from the Admin console.

The Engineering team is currently working on this issue. It should be fixed hopefully in the next week, but it is subject to change. I will keep you updated on the status of this issue.

In the meantime, our team can help restore the accounts if you cannot restore them, until we resolve the initial issue.

If you have any questions in the meantime, please let me know and I will be very happy to help.

Thank you in advance.

Sincerely,

Celina
