Hi, folks,

We got notice from Google two days ago that we can now allow content managers to share folders in shared drives, that new shared drives would have this permission on by default, and that there was a new Drive API method that would allow us to set the that permission programmatically, either via scripting or via GAM.

I've been poking around the API documentation and don't see the method they're talking about. I'd hoped to find it, then try to change the setting with GAM, but if I can't find the method, I can't try.

Did Google jump the gun on this announcement? And did they speak out of turn about GAM?

Thanks,

     John A

See:

However Google is in the process of rolling this feature out. The command won't work until Google rolls out the API which is expected to happen in the next two weeks.

Although the setting is available in the Admin Console, I've had it on our domain for about 6 weeks, you also need to enable it on the actual Shared Drive itself.
The image below is from the Manage Shared Drive panel and then click the settings.
