Is there a way to use GAM to force Chromebooks to update their OS?

Also interested in this - or anyway to force an upgrade. Luck of the draw going through spare devices before testing time - same models will be on different versions - rarely do I see that an update is available when its plainly a version behind.  I'm sure its because I have updates staggered.

I can't see anything in the Wiki that forces an update. But the Admin panel has a variety of settings that will force Chrome devices to update and reboot.

Not sure if this helps, but you could set up an OU with stricter update settings and then use GAM to move the devices into this OU as needed.

It's important to understand that Chromebooks do update automatically and efficiently - unless you've configured policies that limit updates (staggering, bandwidth limits, version pinning, update windows, etc) or the devices aren't kept awake and connected with decent Internet speed long enough to download the update.

It's hugely valuable to look at the in device logs if updates seem to be lagging. This can answer if the device is even being offered the update (if not your policy is probably an issue) how fast it's downloading and any issues during the install. Take a look at:
