Our COO and Legal department would like us to only retain corporate emails for 7 years.

Is there a way to use GAM to delete any emails sent or received by any employee that was >7 years old?

I'm running GAMADV-XTD3 6.08.04

best,
Dale

I am guessing you do not have Vault available for you to use?

I would extreme caution (don't trust the words of stranger like me 😅)

You may also wish to print messages to CSV first then delete it so you can do some verification.

gam config auto_batch_min 1 all users delete messages query "older_than:7y" doit

Alternatively you should also be able to use Got Your Back to same effect.

Thanks, Brian. I think because we're still on G-Suite, the Vault functionality is unavailable.

I'm really concerned about this as well and take your caution to heart. I'd definitely want to test and see first.

Can you recommend a command that will output to a CSV first?

best,
Dale

Vault should be a viable option as long as you are on G Suite Business or Enterprise.

Right. Vault is the answer here. Anything else is a hack that's likely to bite you in the future.
