I tried to run the following to upgrade in the same folder XTD3 was installed.

bash <(curl -s -S -L https://git.io/gam-install) -l -d ~/bin/gamadv-xtd3 -s -p false

It downloaded but then it said

ERROR: [Errno 104] Connection reset by peer
ERROR: Failed running GAM for the first time with return code 3. Please report this error to GAM mailing list. Existing.

Thus, here I am.

Any ideas?

Hi Ron,

I reverted to a snapshot so this is from XTD3:

Is this helpful? Or would it be helpful to try the update again and then run this command?

Thanks,
Allan

Hi Ross,

Nothing definitive yet, but he said, "I am thinking this is related to the App and Threat update that was release late on 6/17 and installed on 6/18. "

If he doesn't get a new update tomorrow (which would hopefully fix it) he's going to roll that one back and see if that fixes my issue.

I'll keep you posted.

Thanks,
Allan

You could potentially install GAM on a GCP virtual machine so you are direct connecting to Google network and didn't need to worry about misbehaving on premise network security appliances. See:

The workaround our neteng folks found for me on this issue was:

Adding an Application Override for traffic sourced from 164.76.7.164 tcp 443 overriding it to google-base.

Not a perfect solution, but it makes it work.

Apparently, for whatever reason, the Palo Alto detected the old version of google-base but not the new.
This override allowed the new to work without the firewall getting in the way.

Just mentioning this in case anyone else out there has a similar issue.

Thanks,
Allan
