Using Managed Bookmarks in GAC or via GAM command.

Is there anything I can do or add to have the bookmarked links open in a new tab?

If I setup a folder of bookmarks for one OU or building, is there a way to copy that setup to another OU in order to modify one or more of the bookmarked sites? Without having to re-enter all of them?

Any other tips or tricks to using managed bookmarks.

Hi Rick,

Quite certain you can't make a bookmark open in a new tab.

WRT, which GAMADV-XTD3, copying bookmarks you can use gam print chromepolicies ou </Path/To/OU> filter chrome.users.ManagedBookmarksSetting formatjson to export the bookmarks and gam update chromepolicy chrome.users.ManagedBookmarksSetting json file <File Name>.json orgunit </Path/To/OU> to update the new OU.

If you are going to managed bookmarks with GAM you may want to take a loook at this link, https://sites.google.com/jis.edu.bn/gam-commands/hardware/chrome#h.tmi7gjxr11ie, where I have given an example of using Google Sheets to create a Json file you then use to update the bookmarks. The reason I did this was so that it is easier to matain the bookmarks in the order you want (alphabetical). Using Admin console involves a lot of moving bookmarks up to the location as need.

Hi James,

It's been a couple of years. I ended up recreating my managed bookmarks manually. But now I am interested in cleaning up and organizing them a little better. I think I have your Google Sheet, but I am not sure how to actually use it. Or at least not sure when to use one shett/tab over the other and how to extract the JSON file info for the GAM command. Also wondering if it is possible to nest the bookmarks in sub-folders for Google sites, District sites; possibly secretary, building admin, ELA teachers, Math, Science, etc. 

The sheet I have has three sheets or tabs named SYSTEMS, FORMS and INFO.

Not necessarily asking you to figure all that out for me if it is not something you already know. Just curious about any thoughts you may have.

Sheesh, Sorry James and others. I took another look at website this morning and reread the example instructions. It seems the answer were there just like the old Prego commercial saying "It's in there..."
