Hello,

I am looking to upload a whole folder, its contents and folder structure to Google Drive. Is this possible with GAM please? I am looking for ways to assist the migration of files for our users.

Thanks

Zak

This would be a great feature, but probably a royal pain to accomplish.

At a basic level, you might be able to do some of this with Google Drive Sync.

There are also a lot of commercial products in this space, such as SkySync and Cloud FastPath. ExpanDrive might also be a possibility, though that works somewhat differently.

Hope that helps!

Cloud Fast Path looks interesting, but wow would it be expensive by the time I finished uploading 6TB of data. I'll have to look a bit closer at ExpanDrive, if it can handle the amount of Data I need to migrate I could pair it up with GAM to move the documents to the appropriate accounts.

We need to migrate 2,000 users. Google Drive Sync isn't an option im afraid.

Will have a look at the commercial options.

Thanks

I am facing this as well.  I would expect that this could be done with a script.  Since we're a Linux shop I will likely attempt this with bash, though if anyone already has a script please please share so we don;t have to reinvent the wheel.

I expect that setting a source folder and parsing the results of a find command should yield the necessary data to both create the necessary folder structure as well as upload the files, but that's gonna be a TON of API calls.  I saw another post where the user had set up several admin accounts and rotated through them in the script logic to prevent google from rate-limiting the upload.

I will reach out to our state K12 education IT consortium (http://cetpa.net) to see if anyone else has tackled this already.

Hello,

If you do write something that would be great. I would do myself, but it isn't in my skillet. I am mainly a Cisco networking guy :)

Thanks

"ZIP Extractor" is doing a recursive drive upload of (extracted) files and folders, so it seems somebody has already done something similar. The code is on github:
