Hi everyone,

I am attempting to provision our student accounts in Google Workspace using GAM to provision student records from the SIS

- so in theory if a student record is created in the SIS, our hope is that through GAM a Google Workspace account will be created for said student. Any ideas?

Maybe it’s making this too general, but is there a reason you’re wanting to use GAM not Google Cloud Directory Sync (https://support.google.com/a/answer/106368?hl=en)?

Cheers,

Ian

Entirely possible.... almost...

I feel this is the easier way....  but I have seen people create accounts straight with GAM also.

I have a script that syncs our SIS with our AD, then Google Cloud Sync sets up the account.
Then I use GAM in the same script to set the passwords.
This lets the tools work for what they are defined to do without having to do too much programming.

As long as your SIS spits out a csv file that gam can access then it should be fairly straightforward.
You would then schedule gam to run once or twice a day, read the file and update users with createifnotfound.

If your SIS only exports new users to the csv, then it's even easier as gam can just create all those users.
Do note that the SIS export must include something completely unique you can use as email address, else you will run into email address conflicts.
