Vault - retention rules

Sort of gam, but more of just GW question related to Vault.

I had an experience today that seems to indicate that Vault requires retention rules to be set explicitly... whereas in the past I always understood it to be Indefinitely (Education customer).

Instead, I saw that it stated NotDefined on Retention.

Did I just completely miss this?  I searched for any announcements of this from Google.

Is there any way with gam or Admin console to detect if/when a Retention setting change was made (by and Admin or if it became required by Google)?

Yes, Vault won't retain any data until you explicitly define default or custom rules. That's been the case for as long as I've known.
