Syntax for adding a Domain Shared Contact using GAMADV-X?

I think that I may be misunderstanding the correct syntax to undertake this action.

I am using Ross Scroggs' GAMADV-X and want to seed my own domain with an external contact - jane...@externaldomain.com

Firstname: Jane
Familyname: Doe

I have been trying using the following command:

gam create contact firstname Jane familyname Doe email jane...@externaldomain.com primary

but I get the following error

MacBook-Pro-15:gamadv-x johndoe$ gam create contact firstname Jane familyname Doe email jane...@externaldomain.com primary

Command: /Users/johndoe/bin/gamadv-x/gam create contact firstname Jane familyname Doe email jane...@externaldomain.com primary >>><<<

ERROR: Missing argument: Expected <primary|notprimary>


Any thoughts on what I should be entering?

The email part at the end of your command is missing a parameter and should be:

email work|home|other|<String> jane...@externaldomain.com primary
(ie either work, home, other or any other identifier)

I had tried adding 'work' previously, but I think I may have done so when I had removed reference to firstname and familyname in an attempt to isolate the issue. It looks like that those are mandatory fields when adding a contact. The successful command was: 

gam create contact firstname Jane familyname Doe email work jane...@externaldomain.com primary

Hi All,

Just checking, how did you go about adding multiple contacts with gam adv? Or is it a case of 1 command per contact?

It's one command per contact; if you have a CSV file with contacts to add you could user gam csv.

Hello Ross,

sorry for unearthing this thread, but could you give a concrete example for a .csv and where to put the primary|notprimary there?

I am also getting the same error: ERROR: Invalid choice (fabian meyer): Expected <primary|notprimary> when trying to upload a .csv
