You need to set an alias.

To create an alias in bash that is set every time you start a shell:
  1. Open your ~/.bash_profile file.
  2. Add a line with the alias—for example, alias gam='~/bin/gam/gam'
  3. Save the file.
  4. Quit the editor. The new alias will be set for the next shell you start.
  5. Open a new Terminal window to check that the alias is set: alias.

Maybe replace ~ with the absolute path to your home dir.

I'm having the same problem. I just started using GAM this morning, and I was able to successfully run a project. Now I'm coming back to it again, and I get the error:

-bash: gam: command not found

I don't see a .bash_profile file. What am I missing??

Jill,

Start terminal
Do: ls -al

Do you see files like this?

-rw-r-----+  1 admin  staff     331 Aug  4 09:13 .bash_aliases

-rw-------+  1 admin  staff  749165 Nov  5 21:51 .bash_history

-rw-r--r--+  1 admin  staff     402 Jul 14 13:59 .bash_profile

Yes. These are the only lines that contain the word "bash" --

-rw-------    1 jillelfering  staff   1674 Nov  6 10:09 .bash_history

drwx------   36 jillelfering  staff   1224 Nov  6 10:09 .bash_sessions

I have found that I can make the "gam" command work again if I start by entering --

alias gam="/Users/jillelfering/bin/gam/gam"

so I think I'm on the right track with having to create the alias to be remembered the next time, but I can't find where to do that.

Jill

Yes, Jill, you are close.
Create a .bash_aliases file and put your alias command in it.
The next time you start the  terminal it should already have the alias loaded.

Hello, I ran into the same issues. Where I was able to run the gam commands in the morning.
I have edited it on my bash_profile but I am still getting command not found.

I have tried all three variations and still getting command not found. I am suspecting that it is because I am on zsh instead of bash. Would that make a difference?

I switched from zsh to Bash and I am still getting the same issues. I had it running on zsh in the morning when I installed it
