Good afternoon,

I'm looking for the ability to prepend or append my GAM command that I send to ToDrive with the actual command.

As an example:  gam print users allfields todrive tdtitle "All Users - All Fields - 01-13-2022" tdsheet "Original"

I'd like the "gam print users allfields" portion (or the entire line) somewhere in the file so that my peers know what command I ran to achieve that particular result in order to be repeatable within the team.

Thanks
Brett

Just out of curiosity, wouldn’t this break the sheets ability to be used as input for a second command?  Many of Ross’ examples are a chain of commands strung together using the output of one, to facilitate the next step.

I think I see the value in what you are asking, I just don’t think it practical.

I wonder if there is some sort of secondary option that might be more appropriate, maybe a “logtodrive” option?

Just thinking out loud.

Brett,

The command used to generate the data is in the files description field.

Hm, this is really helpful.
I had no idea that the command is saved in the description and add to that, I wasn't even aware that the description is there. I guess that the description is overwritten if, for instance, you have multiple tabs in a Sheet, which have output from different GAM commands.
Then I ran:
"gam user us...@domain.com update drivefile <file id>  description "...... GAM command goes here ...."
So, I can use GAM to add a description. That gives exciting opportunities to add more information in a mass update to file descriptions using "gam csv"!

I was slightly frustrated that you have to use the folder view and then "view details" in order to see the description, you can't change a file's description when you're editing the file (which isn't GAM's problem, of course).

Thank you for this info'
