We have 2 issues that I hope someone has an answer to.
We have student exam accounts that are pretty locked down as per the list following. Unfortunately something has changed since Chrome OS 97 and we are no longer able to print from those accounts. When we try to print, the preview screen just shows loading so there is nothing to print. I would assume that we need to unblock some URL for this but I have talked to the tech support we use at AmplifiedIT and they haven't been any help. Would you have any idea what would need to be unblocked. Another issue that is probably the similar is that exam students used to be able to play MP3 exams (for those needing this) but now the student sees the MP3 but they no longer play. When you try to play the player comes up but nothing plays. When these exam accounts are put into the student OU where there is no blocking, both the printing and the MP3 play

Under URL Blocking we have * and translate.google.com (for some reason even with *, translate was working)

Under Blocked URL exceptions we have:

Any help would be appreciated.

Blocking chrome:// URLs breaks things in weird and wonderful ways, often when you least expect it on Chrome OS updates. I strongly advise not blocking chrome:// URLs. If there are specific settings you want to prevent users (students) from changing, use that specific policy rather than using chrome:// URL blocking to try to prevent the user from changing it in the Chrome Settings UI. If there's not a policy to specifically lock down that setting, file a feature request through Google Support and/or crbug.com asking such a policy be added.

While in theory I agree with you Jay, but we have asked and asked and asked (including submitting to crbug). Nothing ever happens. This is a device adopted in to education (because of price), not build for education. </soapbox>

I totally agree Jay, however the department of Education gives us directive so we have to follow their guidelines in order for there to be no question about cheating. We actually have resolved both issues about 30 minutes ago. I would prefer not blocking too because Google has a way of changing things on us as it did between version 97 and the current version.

Using a digital exam portal kiosk, like Trelson or DigiExam, none of this should be necessary.

Martin - for those of us playing at home - can you share how you resolved the issues? Might help someone else in the future as they look back at threads.

There is a group of us that work on these things with Alberta Education and one of the guys in the group had read about the untrusted section of chrome so he started fooling around in there and noticed the printer one and the media one and once he opened those up it all worked. I had never heard of the chrome-untrusted section before.
