Changing primary email

The school district has purchased a shorter domain name. I have been hesitant to change users primary email to this shorter domain. I am not sure how it will affect various things like files shared with their longer domain, classroom ownership and membership, SSO with various apps, etc.

I was thinking of changing my primary email to the shorter domain to see what breaks and wondered how it would affect GAM:

• Will this break GAM for my account?
• Would I need or have to re-establish my GAM project with the shorter domain email?
• Could I add my short-domain user to GAM?
• What else am I not considering? GAM or not GAM related.
