more clarification:  I have a folder called "StudentFiles". located in each student's folder,  I need to copy a files to this folder.  I know the GAM command to do this using the folder ID but I need a way to get the folder ID of the sub folder from each student folder. I'm thinking of something like print to file folder iD where folder name = "StudentFiles" but honestly haven't a clue how to do this.

Okay, so I tried

gam user <email of user> show filelist query "'<Folder ID of parent folder that's in a shared folder>' in parents and mimeType = 'application/vnd.google-apps.folder' and title = 'StudentFiles'" fields id. but I get the following error "Service not applicable/Does not exist"

Then <email of user> is incorrect or is in an OU where drive is disabled

A super admin can only see files on her My Drive or on Shared Drives of which he is a member.

Are you looking at a My Drive or Shared Drive?
