Group Send Mail As GAMADV command

I'm looking at using GAM to perform the following function so as to not be blowing up email groups

Similar to: Settings->Account->send mail as

I want to move away from using a listserv (mailman) dedicated server, but there are some internally who don't believe Google Groups offers the ability for sending email FROM the group, TO the group (ultimately: I send an email to the group AS the group name so users only see that it's from the group, not my own account).

If there is a way to add users to be able to "send mail as" via GAM, then we'd avoid having to send out the confirmation emails to hundreds of users..

I think the mix-up is I want to add a user as an authorized user, to a group, without having to send a confirmation link/code. The issue would be a current group of 500 people. If I wanted to add a user to be able to send from their Gmail (drop FROM field) FROM group TO group (so individual users name doesn't show, only the group name). We wouldn't want to have them go through the Gmail GUI to send a confirmation link that 500 people would get. I'd rather authorize them behind the scenes much like the 'delegate' command can be done.

I got this command but it's getting an error

"gam user jdoe update sendas groupname"

 jdoe, SendAs Address: grou...@domain.tld, Update Failed: Requested entity was not found.

*note: i have in the gamconfig the domain so i can exclude the domain in commands

"gam user jdoe add sendas groupname "name wanted to be shown"" worked. Thanks for pushing me in the right direction!
