Hi - I've run into an oddity and I'm not sure why (and api bug?).

When I run

$ python src/gam/gam.py info user amw412
I get back -

First Name: Anna Marie
Last Name: Warner

When I run

$ python ./src/gam/gam.py print users firstname lastname suspended aliases > all-users.txt
I get back -

$ grep amw412 all-users.txt
amw...@lehigh.edu,Anna,Warner,false,

In the cpanel web interface, when I look up amw412, I see the First name is set to "Anna Marie", but  gam print users is still showing the name as it was before I corrected her name.

The "get all users" API call that "gam print users" uses can sometimes lag behind with updates, especially on larger domains. This is also true for the GAL results (autocomplete). It should sort itself out in 12-24 hours or less.

We've the same issue where the names are not synced after even two weeks, but only a few accounts are affected. We've now opened a support ticket to resolve it.

It's been a few days now, and I'm still seeing the same issue, so it's definitely seems like a problem with the print multiple users api call.   I've modified my code to do an individual lookup of the user if the names aren't matching (gam info user) and parse out the name, but that's a time consuming hack.   I think I have around 30 accounts where the names have changed, so luckily it isn't too many.  It's also a problem in the cpanel / dashboard interface which makes me think it might be a problem with the api call itself.

Thanks Michel for opening a support ticket.  That confirms that I'm not the only one seeing the problem.  I've added a api bug report - http://code.google.com/a/google.com/p/apps-api-issues/issues/detail?id=3297 as well in case you want to follow it (I'm not sure how much attention these get though.)

I don't know if this is the same issue or not, I had a issue a couple weeks ago with a user's name not appearing correctly in the auto-complete when somebody started typing in a name in the To: field even though it was correct in the domain's Dashboard.

After opening a ticket, we discovered that the name in the user's Google+ profile takes precedence.  If a user changes his/her display name in Google+, that name will start appearing in your global address book.

Could this explain your issues?

I am also facing the same issue, and raised the ticket so many times. Even if you download the list of mail id from server it will reflect the FN and LN what they register in Google Plus.
