Brand new to GAM

I've been a Google Admin for quite some time but have never utilized GAM before.  What advice might you give to a rookie just starting out?  What are your most beneficial commands, common scenarios, and/or best practices.

I'm with you here, Chris. I've been administering our GW for Education Plus for a few years, but I'm looking for something that represents a good how-to for GAM. Main thing for me is structuring commands and getting a better grasp on the syntax of them.

Hi Chris & DK,

I started by running through the commands from this Google Group to get a better idea of how they work and would tweak them for how I may want to use the in the future. I recorded them on a Google Site (https://sites.google.com/jis.edu.bn/gam-commands) for my use and then published it for others to refer to. I still do this and am constantly learning.

I run GAMADV-XTD3 in Google Compute Engine (less than US$15 per month) so long-running commands do not time-out and I also have commands scheduled to run and create reports. Because of this run bulk commands against Google Sheets and use the todrive option when printing data.

I also forgot to say that I have set up some Google Sheets that allow me to easily run commands for set situations. For example, this sheet (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-WSk-P-JSmeQiNpdDoCuEQUfy79TcdyhKpiuoPF6O90/edit#gid=0) is set up to manage Gmail delegation (you can copy this sheet and use as needed). I share this with my Helpdesk team, who will fill in the necessary data and then I can copy and run the commands as needed. This has speeded up many processes.
