On our Centos 7 server we have:

glibc-2.17-326.el7_9.x86_64

but none of the downloads here:

are for 2.17 - so it's not supported on Centos 7?

Ross would need to confirm but there should be a -legacy version that is meant for running on distros older than the oldest version GAM was compiled on.

Also, RHEL7 was launched in 2014. I know RedHat supports Enterprise Linux for a long time but at some point running modern apps like GAM on an OS that's nearly a decade old is going to cause you more headaches than it's worth. RHEL8 is 5 years old now, it's past time to upgrade.

We are in the process of replacing all our centos 7 machines with AlmaLinux, which appears to be the closest distro to what centos was before it went sideways.

Centos 7 stopped getting normal updates back in 2020 and will only get maintenance support for another year or so.

As to Jay’s comment about -legacy support in advanced gam, it’s for older macs, and not linux machines.

The source code is available and you could try to compile it to see if you could get it to work, but I think you’d be better off retiring your Centos 7 installs.

Sucks, and probably not the answer you wanted, but there it is.

Do your organizations really not allow you to run a more modern Linux distribution? I can't imagine GAM is the only app you struggle to support in such an environment...

Yes, the -legacy package is what you want to try (and what the install script should pick automatically based on your libc version it detected. Having said that there's no guarantee it will support a version that old.

Thanks all! You can't upgrade Centos 7, you would need to rebuild. I'll try the legacy - I'm upgrading from normal GAM, this upgrade process won't mess with the oauth key will it? Does advanced GAM piggyback on the oauth key from normal GAM?

Roberto,

The upgrade does not affter the oauth key; Advanced GAM can use the same project info as Standard gam.
