Hello,

I'm attempting to use GAM (v6.21) to create a folder shortcut in another user's My Drive via the command below:

gam user <email address> create drivefileshortcut <folder id> parentid root

But this is the error I get when running it:

ERROR: drivefileshortcut is not a valid argument for "gam <users> create"

Any advice on resolving this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

Mike,

You're running Standard GAM, the command you gave is an Advanced GAM command.
Try: gam user <email address> create drivefile shortcut <folder id> mimetype gshortcut

Where can we find a list of the commands for the regular version of GAM (non-advanced version)?

See: https://github.com/GAM-team/GAM/wiki

In the same folder as your gam executable, the is a file GamComands.txt

The GamCommands.txt shows this:

gam <UserTypeEntity> create|add drivefileshortcut <DriveFileEntity> [shortcutname <String>]
        [<DriveFileParentAttribute>|convertparents]
        [(csv [todrive <ToDriveAttribute>*]) | returnidonly]

BUT that "drivefileshortcut" command does not work with my gam.  What am I doing wrong?

$ gam user test-user check drivefileshortcut 1B-yolxI1ZB_QaSvoTG6RauAZ3Z3HoK5h

ERROR: drivefileshortcut is not a valid argument for "gam <users> check"

You're using an Advanced Gam command with Standard Dam.

How am I to determine which is a Standard Gam command which is Advanced command from that there?   I am confused. Please help. Thanks.

Standard GAM is documented at https://github.com/GAM-team/GAM/wiki/; Advanced GAM is documented at https://github.com/taers232c/GAMADV-XTD3/wiki/

Advanced GAM (GAMADV) is a complete, or very-nearly-complete, superset of GAM. Personally, I’ve just had Advanced GAM installed for years and haven’t looked back.

Hope that helps,

Ian
