We have an email thread that has gotten out of control and has objectionable content.
Is there a method to stop the email thread from continuing?

Can't you just delete the thread?

My guess is that what happened is that someone sent a message to “all staff” or something, and people are reply-all-ing.

If that’s the case https://github.com/GAM-team/GAM/wiki/ExamplesEmailSettings#syntax-48 might help in terms of going through and removing that thread from all users’ inboxes…

Another option would be to set up a compliance rule in the admin console to at least stop any new messages on the thread from going through, by way of sending them to quarantine or rejecting them. See https://support.google.com/a/answer/1346934 for more about that.

Hope that helps,

Ian
