I have read probably every flavor of answer (that I could find) on various forums and - tried them all and none work.

This used to work just dandy: It started from the top and went to the bottom of our OUs..
gam user all users show forward

Now, it will run for awhile, then eventually I get:
Error 1410 - Feature Unavailable For User
and I have to kill it. (I am a Super Admin)

Based on what I read, it may have to do with any of the below:
1.  We have OUs with spaces in the name.
2.  We have accounts that are suspended and put in an OU where Gmail is Overridden to not allow any messages.

To that end, I've tried various options, at least 20 different variations, cannibalized from others, including but not limited to:
gam ou "OuName" show forward

gam print users query orgUnitPath="'/sub OU name"

We have < 3000 students and staff.

I will use a redirect at the end (>filename.txt) - but I just need to get it to work

I JUST downloaded/installed gam-3.65-windows-x64.zip - no change in outcome.

I WAS a COBOL programmer 30-some years ago, but those days are gone. I am a complete infant in this arena and can usually get the job done as long as I can cannibalize others to get started.

ANY ideas??

Try:

gam all users show forward

and make sure you've updated to latest version.

I downloaded and installed the most recent version on the releases page an hour before posting that. gam-3.65-windows-x64

I mistyped when I put in “users”. That isn’t part of the script. I used exactly what you typed:

Problem remains:
This used to work just dandy: It started from the top and went to the bottom of our OUs.
gam all users show forward

Now, it will run for awhile, then eventually I get:
Error 1410 - Feature Unavailable For User

** It will give me 1426 of our nearly 3000 accounts before I get the error and have to kill the process.

Jackie,

Do: gam print users > users.lst
Now do your command: gam all users show forward

Find the last user shown from your command and look it up in users.lst; the next address is the problem, call it f...@bar.com.
Now do: gam user f...@bar.com show forward
You should get the same error; it's because f...@bar.com does not have mail enabled. GAM quits on the error rather than just skipping the user without email.

Still not functional AND I got less accounts. This time only 807.

f...@bar.com (following the instructions) is NOT a suspended account - if I understood your steps properly. She is actively logged on right now!

We have all suspended accounts in one OU.

Is there a way to run this by OU - to not search through that OU? A pain in the butt, but it will avoid this issue "does not have mail enabled" completely.

Jackie,

Did you identify the problematic user? It's not necessarily a matter of suspension, just whether email is enabled. I have schools where all kids have accounts, but email is enabled only for upper grades.

You can say: gam ou /OrgName show forward.

RE: Did you identify the problematic user? >> No I didn't. The persons before and after the failures are active users. (fails with same error but not on the same name)

I tried what you just wrote: gam ou "Campus Name/Students/1st Grade" and it did the job - for just that one OU. OHHH MYYYYY... I would have to do that for each sub-OU. One for each campus, for each grade level and for each provisioned Chromebook OU under each grade. Then we have departments and of course the OU with all the suspended accounts.

TK-8th students have email because we use Kahn Academy. Grades 2 (or maybe 3rd grade??) and up do CAASPP testing; K and up get keyboarding classing or other computer skills classes. Additionally, we have Chromebooks provisioned under our domain that students can purchase from us. If they bring a Chromebook from home, they have to provision it under our domain to use it on campus.

I just wish it would work like it used to. gam user all users show forward used to work perfectly. We've always had suspended accounts; I haven't had to run this in several months so I don't know when it stopped working.

Thanks for the input but I think I am going to give up. COBOL was easier than this!!! I need the information because we are governed by federal law for public disclosure. Not sure what I'm gonna tell the powers that be.
