GAM Change Shared Drive Name ??

Is there a way to make changes to shared drives - specifically renaming them using GAM?

such as game update shareddrive ACL <shareddrive new name>

We have ~100 shared drives we want to append -External to instead of manually going into google workspace, adding an admin to the drive, then changing it on the shared drive.

Why does google not have the ability for admins to rename a shared drive on the admin > drive > manage shared drive settings page on their workspace..... really makes no sense.

Can you share a dummy example please?

What if a shared drive's name is "Department A" and we want to update that to Department A-External" for example

I'm clearly typing this wrong, I keep getting an error.

Trying to read this but it's a bit confusing.

Looking at that documentation, 

gam [<UserTypeEntity>] update teamdrive <SharedDriveEntity> [name <Name>]

gam john.smith update teamdrive (all make sense)

<shareddriveentity> and the {name <Name>} (doesn't really make sense.

Is shareddriventity the ID/ACL?

didn't seem to work but I was able to get this to work:

gam user chris.f...@uplight.com update teamdrive (drive ID) name "desiredname" adminaccess

This worked for me using advanced gam:  gam update shareddrive teamdrive "Rocketry" name "Marked for Deletion June 2024 Rocketry"

I tried to then use a list of drives I need to rename from a csv, but that is giving me an error :(

Here is what I am entering in an effort to use a csv called drivesrename.csv with columns name and newname for the Shared drives:
gam csv drivesrename.csv gam update shareddrive teamdrive ~name name ~newname

I am getting this error:
'utf-8' codec can't decode byte 0xf0 in position 622: invalid continuation byte

Any ideas what I can do to fix that? Would be amazing if I could rename all 300 drives in one command.

Are you on a PC? How was drivesrename,cv created?

Try this:

gam csv drivesrename.csv charset latin1 gam update shareddrive teamdrive ~name name ~newname

It is something to do with my specific computer. After you asked about my computer, I tried on another computer and it worked as originally typed.

Was so nice to watch all 300 shared drives rename without having to go one by one.
