I had an employee terminate last week. So I moved her Google Drive to the manager's Google Drive.

    gam create datatransfer old.employee gdrive manager.name privacy_level shared,private

Now, the manager has asked that I move that terminated employee's Google Drive files to a different manager.

Is there any way to do that with GAM? I have not deleted her G-Suite account yet.

Thanks in advance.

Best,
Dale

Hi Dale,

You will need the the folder id of the Folder with all the terminated users data in it for this. So the files now are owned by manager.name and you want to transfer ownership to new.manager.name the following command will transfer the ownership of the folder and all of its children to the new.manager.name. I don't believe the folder will show up in their My Drive, you may have to send them the URL to the folder and have them Add it to their My Drive. This command can take a while to run depending on amount of data being transferred.

gam user [manager.name.email] transfer ownership [FolderID] [new.manager.name.email]

when running, it says

gam user [manager.name.email] transfer ownership [FolderID] [new.manager.name.email]

ERROR: ownership is not a valid argument for "gam <users> transfer"

transfer ownership is an Advanced GAM command, you are using Standard GAM.

perfect.

And in the same instruction, can I indicate to remove the permissions of the
original user so that they can no longer see the folder with its contents?

Tanks
