Hello.

We are planning to use google apps shortlinks as a link to the
production environment or a product. I just need some confidence that
google apps shortlinks will not got down or be removed for no reason.

please let me know

Tony

Hi,

The product is in labs, which means it does not come with any
warranties or SLAs. That being said, the product has been live since
fall 2008. It is used by many thousand Google Apps customers. If you
ever decide to move to something else, there is an export feature that
will get you all your links in CSV format. I would recommend that you
look through the forum, both regarding features and past outages, to
get a better idea if the product is right for you.

Best regards,

Jens

Nobody knows what the future brings. Personally, I don't think that
you would see a lot of issues in the foreseeable future, but as
mentioned before, it is a labs product.

Best regards,

Jens

For what it's worth, since where are who-knows-how-many Business Edition
Google Apps (e.g., $$ in Google's pockets) as well as the Standard,
Education and Non-Profit Google Apps Editions users, and more joining all
the time as new APIs and widgets are added all the time, I personally find
it highly unlikely that it will be going anywhere any time soon. :)

Side note, Jens: Any stats on just how many domains/Apps users ARE using
Short Links, in aggregate? Would be cool to know just how many users there
are out there, what kind of traffic the service gets as opposed to goo.gl,
etc., from a curiosity perspective.

Yes, I can remember 2 times in the last year where there were issues that
caused it to stop working, but they were minor and quickly resolved if
memory serves me correctly. There have been more glitches with gmail than
with Google Apps Short Links in recent times, at least since I started
using it over a year ago.
