Any (event the slightest) idea when free account limits will be lifted and we will be able to pay for storage etc?

Any (event the slightest) idea when free account limits will be lifted
and we will be able to pay for storage etc?

Some of us have been developing apps for GAE since the very beginning
and would like to launch them for real... without the current
limitations on storage, file uploads, etc. The limitations of the
preview release precludes the release of many apps that, for example,
need to store lot of binary content in data store.

I second, A roadmap would be lovely.

p.s. Please give us LXML for python (disable the socket parts or
whatever else you dont like, but we need some XSLT solution)

Yes, pretty please.
I think my current project would fit into free GAE, but it's already
written in another framework and I don't feel like rewrting it for no
benefit.
My next project however will probably not fit into free GAE limits,
but I can't start working on it until I know I will not hit the free
wall.
I am ready to pay money. Pretty please?

If you watch Guido's Django-con video, I believe I heard him say
'before the end of the year', but I may have been mistaken... perhaps
someone else could watch and confirm?

All we really need is an approx date... 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 1
year!!!!

At the Google developer day in London it was said (repeatedly)

"We are commited to allowing paying for more capacity by the end of the year"
(slightly paraphrased)

and that is the the only prediction they would make. :)

That's good enough for me. Did they mention any size limitation on
blob properties?

basically that they are well aware of the 1Mb limitation and the
desire to increase it. In reply to how to store big files the answer
was use S3 ;) (or split the files into multiple Entities and store in
an entity group)

as I said the only future plan revealed was the end of the year one.
Of course its well known that multiple languages will be supported
someday but no clue on which or when either.

The other point was that the issue tracker is closely monitored so
make your desires known there... (star your most important issues)

Thanx for your reply.

I thought the 1Mb size limitation was on file uploaded as part of the
app... not in the size of the BlobProperty... if BlobProperty can't
and won't accept anything larger than 1Mb, then I better start using
S3 (and perhaps EC2 and SDB for that matter... so that transfer
bandwidth from/to S3 becomes free of charge).

Filed and starred a bunch of issues there!!!

Again I recall Guido in his video saying he was aware of the file size
problem, because they wanted to allow youtube clips to be included,
but he said the heartburn was how to prevent someone from uploading
tremendous amounts and clogging the system. But, in the Flickr talk,
another guy said they upload 37,000 photos per second...

I also tried to upload zip file to my app engine application, which
contains lots of pictures. The limitation of 1 MB uploading file size
is quite a problem for me.
I hope GAE can give us more quota, that means more freedom and
power! :)

Thanks,
-Crane
